IN AND AROUND JOGJA

The third day was spent strolling around the city center of Jogja. Since Jen never been to Jogja before so we took her to some of the "mandatory" tourism spot. Kraton, Taman Sari, Kampung Cyber and around.

We decided to eat in a restaurant inside the Kraton area called Bale Raos. They provide Sultans' favorite foods. One of the dish that caught our attention is this dessert. Such a complicated way to serve a banana plate.

Other dishes were ok, but nothing too special in our opinion. Some are way too expensive considering the portion and taste. It was interesting because they put information particular dish of Sultans' favorite.

After lunch we went to Taman Sari. I personally not really keen of this place. I think it could look prettier with more care and a little bit renovation. The history of the place is quite interesting though.

Taman Sari Backyard

Kampoeng Cyber located on the back of Taman Sari. There is this small door connecting to this little village. I always went to this area with a guide from Taman Sari. The guide will take you to the underground Mosque too.

The history of underground mosque is pretty cool. If you want to visit this place, I suggest to go with a guide. I always get very excited hearing about the history and explanation about this mosque while being there and explore the place.

The Underground mosque can get very crowded with locals and youngsters, it is best to avoid weekend and holiday season.
